The Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship’s 2-Day Entrepreneurship Workshop (Day 1)
The Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship’s 2-Day Entrepreneurship Workshop for first year MBAs will provide interactive, team-based learning of entrepreneurial principles involved in ideation, assessment and implementation. The workshop will help students to evaluate an idea for a business and then put that idea into motion through various challenging exercises that will strengthen entrepreneurial skills.
Though this is part of the Full-time first year mandatory Orientation schedule, this invitation is being extended to all interested MBA Students as well. All students must be available to attend both days and should register with Jennifer Howell at jhowell@rhsmith.umd.edu.
The workshop will culminate with teams presenting a well-thought out five-minute pitch to their classmates as well as to venture capitalists and successful entrepreneurs. The Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship focuses on practical experience to help students develop skills that are necessary in a global economy. Students who decide to take advantage of the center’s expertise have the chance to create successful enterprises, work for start-up companies, explore entrepreneurship as an investor, or learn how to consult for high growth companies. The following are a few of the student-run start-ups that the center has helped to create and develop into successful enterprises: Goozex, Hook and Ladder Brewing Company, North Star Games and ShopDC.
