Important Information for International Students
In response to concerns about International students completing coursework in the first term of the Spring semester, the MBA Programs Office has gathered some information from IES to help clarify the expectations and concerns. Please see the information below.
PART-TIME AUTHORIZATION FORM
According to the IES website, "The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations state that international students may be authorized to drop below a full course of study for the following reasons: Completing a course of study", among other reasons. In order to drop below a full course load of study, the student must complete a Part-time Authorization form which MUST be handed in before the end of drop/add period in the semester in which you intend to graduate (February 8th for Spring 08 grads). The form must be signed by your campus administrator, Devon Welsh Loetz, before the student submits it to IES. Your campus administrator must also provide you with an official letter to verify the completion of your coursework.
EXIT PLAN
All International Students must complete an Exit Plan with their campus administrator at some point during the semester in which they intend to graduate.
FORMS
All forms can be found on the IES website. Once signed by your campus administrator, theses forms should be returned to IES. http://www.international.umd.edu/ies/269
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR SECOND YEAR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
If you are a second year MBA student who wishes to complete your coursework in Term C of the Spring semester, please contact Devon Welsh Loetz by Thursday, November 1st. You will need to complete an alternate assignment for the Ethics ELM requirement since the ELM is not held until April 2008.
