Smith School of Business Commencement Ceremony
Important Notes for MBA Students who have indicated a desire to walk in the December graduation ceremony.
UNIVERSITY CEREMONY:
The Campus Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Comcast Center. Graduates in their caps and gowns will take part in the processional and will be seated on the floor of the Comcast Center. Visit http://www.commencement.umd.edu for more details on this ceremony.
SMITH SCHOOL CEREMONY:
The Graduation Ceremony for the Smith School of Business will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2007 in the Comcast Center at 1:00 p.m. No tickets are required for guests at the Smith School Ceremony. Graduates participating in the Smith School’s Ceremony will line up in the Auxiliary Gymnasium of the Comcast Center (Room 0601) and should arrive by 12:00 p.m. Upon arrival, please obtain your 3x5 card (used to announce your name at the ceremony) from the information table in the Small Gym. After obtaining your card, find the area labeled MBA and get in line alphabetically (if possible).
As the procession begins, please stay in single file and in order so that you may be seated correctly. At the appropriate time, marshals will lead the graduates to the platform one row at a time to receive their graduation scrolls. You will hand your card to the person at the microphone, walk to a Dean to shake hands and proceed to the table to shake hands with your Chairperson as you receive your scroll. Your diploma will be mailed to you following official clearances for graduation in early/mid January. RECEPTION FOLLOWING GRADUATION
There will be a Reception held for all Fall 2007 Masters and PhD Graduates and their guests on Thursday, December 20, 2007. The Reception will take place in Van Munching Hall in the first floor atrium immediately following the Commencement Ceremony. If you would like to attend the Reception please RSVP to Mary Susan Forsythe (mforsythe@rhsmith.umd.edu) by Monday, December 10, 2007 with the number of people that will be in your party.
